Let students compare this with bad ones.
Let students find examples by themselves.
Let students think about the application.
It is no use to let students repeat your words mechanically. But it is useful to ask students in the following way :
"I missed his/her words. Would you tell me what he/she said ? "
Why ? Because, in this case, a thinking takes place.
