Leaning a subject, a form, as a thing accomplished is fundamental in learning. But this is not the unique form of learning.
In fact, it is very dangerous that the learning-the-accomplished becomes the all of the learning and the leaning becomes closed, because a "form" is valid only in a fixed situation (culture). You cannot change yourself with the times if you are restricted by the accomplished. It is necessary for students both to learn the accomplished and to get such flexibility as to adapt themselves to a change of situation.
What way of learning is required for students to get this flexibility ? It is such a leaning as
- discovering a new way of application of a form,
- altering/modifying a form, and
- creating a form.
We may express this "learning by playing with forms".
